“Genie,’’ a new song released by Girls’ Generation last week, has been embroiled in a plagiarism dispute.

Some Internet users have raised questions about the fact that an Uzbek female singer unveiled a song similar to “Genie,’’ which has been enjoying growing population in South Korea, several months earlier.

The ‘Gee’ craze continues.

SNSD started promoting “Genie” on Music Bank today but their song “Gee” continues its popularity.

Here’s the story from Soshified:

SNSD’s Gee swept KBS2TV’s Music Bank show as the biggest song for the first half of 2009. Being SNSD’s 10th first place finish for the show, it gathered attention for its longevity in popularity.

The nine-member girl-band Girls Generation soared to stardom early this year with its song “Gee.” In an interview that was held June 22, the Girls’ Generation members spoke about how their popularity has changed their lives. All nine of them have been invited to appear on popular variety shows that further boosted their popularity.
