Yoona, a member of Girls’ Generation, one of South Korea’s top girl groups, has been invited to throw the first ball at the third game of the Korean professional baseball playoff series between Doosan Bears and SK Wyverns.
The match will take place Saturday at the Jamsil ballpark in southeastern Seoul, Doosan’s home ground.
Yoona, 19, will throw to wish Doosan’s advance into the Korean Series with three consecutive wins. Doosan Bears are leading SK Wyverns 2-0 in the best-of-five playoffs. The winner of the playoffs will meet Kia Tigers in the best-of-seven Korean Series.
“I am excited and glad to be picked to throw the first ball for such an important game. I will try my best to make a nice pitch,” Yoona was quoted as saying.
Yoona has been making the first pitch for Doosan Bears since 2007. She made her acting debut in 2007 with the drama “9 Ends 2 Outs.” She earned fame by playing her first starring role in the KBS TV daily drama “You Are My Destiny” last year. (Korea Times)
