SS501 leader and actor Kim Hyun-joong failed to attend and accept his best actor award at the Seoul International Drama Awards as he is recovering in a hospital in Tokyo, Japan, for swine flu.

Instead, his fellow SS501 members accepted the award on his behalf.  Kim Hyun-joong is in an isolation ward and will be confined for 15 days.

Actor Lee Jun-ki will now promote Korea tourism, after being named an ambassador by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Wednesday.

The hallyu star from the films “The King and the Clown,” “Hotel Venus” and dramas “Time Between Wolf and Dog” and “Iljimae,” has gained popularity both here and abroad.

Actor Lee Jun-ki and actress Song Hye-gyo have been chosen as foreigners’ favorite Korean stars. Roughly 3,000 viewers from 60 countries, including the United States, the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore, took part in a survey conducted by the entertainment program “Showbiz Extra” of Arirang TV to vote for their favorite Korean stars and Lee and Song finished first in the movie star category.

Actor-turned-singer Lee Jun-ki (이준기) is making a return to center stage in Japan with concerts in Kobe and Yokohama on July 18 and 19. The event will commemorate the re-opening of his fan club, Splendor.

Lee previously recorded and released music in 2006, but his new single in April was his first time back on the music scene. Another EP is due later this year and the undying love of his fans has thrust him back into the public eye.

There are certain things you might expect when meeting a star actor: crazy good looks, fabulous lifestyle and, perhaps, a bit of attitude.

Such was this reporter’s expectation before an exclusive interview with Korean actor Lee Joon-ki on a recent afternoon. Lee, once a young and struggling actor from the port city of Busan, was catapulted to stardom with his impressive portrayal of an androgynous clown in the 2005 hit film “The King and the Clown.”
