Enjoying great popularity with average ratings of 27 percent, the drama has been the talk of the town throughout its airing. Although towards the end of the series a scandal involving one of the main stars broke out, even that event could not overshadow its achievements.
It has also served as an opportunity for its stars to show different sides of themselves, although not all of them managed to receive rave reviews.
Then who won or lost by appearing in the drama?
The KBS2 spy drama “Iris” has featured the deaths of main characters one by one as the 20-episode series has approached its conclusion. In the 19th episode on December 16, Vic (T.O.P), the killer working for the terrorist group “Iris,” was killed by Kim Hyun-jun (Lee Byung-hun).
The August 2 episode of “The Iron Empress” featured kissing between King Mokjong (Lee In) and his secretary of general affairs, Yu Haeng-gan (Park Jin-woo).
King Mokjong executed Queen Yoseok (Lee Tae-im), whom he loved, when he learned that she had become pregnant with another man’s baby. This changed him; he had been trying to work hard for the people, but now he felt depressed and lost his enthusiasm. To forget his distress, he asked Yu Haeng-gan to obtain drugs for him.
