The KBS2 spy drama “Iris” has featured the deaths of main characters one by one as the 20-episode series has approached its conclusion. In the 19th episode on December 16, Vic (T.O.P), the killer working for the terrorist group “Iris,” was killed by Kim Hyun-jun (Lee Byung-hun).
Hyun-jun, along with Kim Seon-hwa (Kim So-yeon), tailed Vic when he left after killing presidential chief of staff Jeong Hyeong-jun (Chung Han-yong). Caught off guard, Vic found his life at risk. Hyun-jun had wanted to take revenge on Vic for killing the Japanese girl Yuki and her family, who had hidden and taken care of him when he had fled to Japan after he was betrayed by his boss, Baek San. Vic also got rid of Yang Mi-jeong (Juni), Hyun-jun’s fellow agent at the National Security Service, and Kim Ki-hun (Choi Jong-hwan), the North’s workers’ party chief.
Facing death, however, Vic did not show any repentance or regret. Rather he said with composure that only he, not Hyun-jun or even God, could determine his fate.
Getting infuriated, Hyun-jun kicked and beat him, saying that he was punishing him for Mi-jeong as well, until Vic lost consciousness. But the truth was that Vic pretended to faint to make Hyun-jun lower his guard so that he could attack him.
Vic might have succeeded in killing Hyun-jun, but Seon-hwa sensed his move and intercepted him, and Hyun-jun shot him to death.
Meanwhile, Choi Seung-hee (Kim Tae-hee) was ordered by “Iris” to shoot the South Korean president at an inter-Korean summit, while the drama draws its curtain in a sad ending. (KBS)
