[TV Report] Girl groups are popular on the Korean music scene these days, and KBS2’s “Champagne” (MCs Sin Dong-yeob, Sin Bong-seon) has featured a “girl group special” on Saturday. Guests were Brown Eyed Girls, Kara, 4 Minute, After School and Alex of Clazziquai.
The latest addition to the popular girls groups is the bold and exciting 2NE1. Girl power is strong on the music scene with each group popularizing signature dances (Girls’ Generation’s “leg dance,” Brown Eyed Girls’ “impudent dance,” Kara’s “hip dance,” etc).
On Champagne, the girl group guests promoted their respective band’s uniqueness and shared behind-the-scenes stories.
The most engaging guest was Narsha of Brown Eyed Girls. Her witty talk commanded the stage. In her provocative revelations, she said, “HyunA (4 Minute) dances so well that she overshadows the other members. Juyeon (After School) is maybe a bit too confident about her looks. Seung-yeon (Kara) had bags under her eyes when I saw her before makeup.”
She also poked fun at her own age, as she is older than other girl group members, and that her “TV age” was different from her real age. In teaching the “impudent dance” to MC Sin Bong-seon, she said the secret to it was making an arrogant facial expression. Her candid humor amused the entire cast.
After the show, viewers wrote on the website, saying, “It was great to see a bunch of girl group members on one show,” and, “It was also fun to know which male stars most resembled their Mr. Right.”
The cast voted for their top “Prince Charming” in a collective vote in which former 2PM member and pop idol Jaebeom came in second to singer Rain. (Pimedia TV Report)
