Korean pop sensation Wonder Girls are making a surprise visit in Cleveland to meet Major Leaguer Choo Shin-soo of the Cleveland Indians.
The girl group, who recently joined Jonas Brother’s American Tour, will sing their mega hit song “Nobody” at the Cleveland Indians’ ballpark on Sept. 6, the group’s agency JYP entertainment announced.
The Korean Major Leaguer is a well-known fan of the group and their song “Nobody” took Korea by storm last year.
It is often played at Cleveland’s Progressive Filed when Choo comes at bat. Fans chant: “Nobody but Choo.”
One of the Wonder Girls was quoted as saying, “We were so happy to hear that Choo listens to our music, and it will be a great pleasure for us to sing “Nobody” in front of him.”
The group’s leader Sunye will throw the pitch of the game on Sunday, and they are also planning to sing “Take me out to the ballgame,” the unofficial baseball anthem, at the ballpark.
Moved from the Seattle Mariners three years ago, Choo has firmly established himself in the Indians’ line-up this season, currently batting 301 with 71 RBIs and 14 homeruns.
The 29-year-old outfielder has been nominated for the 2009 Hank Aaron Award. (Korea Herald)
