The August 2 episode of “The Iron Empress” featured kissing between King Mokjong (Lee In) and his secretary of general affairs, Yu Haeng-gan (Park Jin-woo).
King Mokjong executed Queen Yoseok (Lee Tae-im), whom he loved, when he learned that she had become pregnant with another man’s baby. This changed him; he had been trying to work hard for the people, but now he felt depressed and lost his enthusiasm. To forget his distress, he asked Yu Haeng-gan to obtain drugs for him.
Yu Haeng-gan, serving as an informant for Kim Chi-yang (Kim Suk-hoon), immediately told Kim Chi-yang about the king’s request. Wanting to destroy King Mokjong, Kim Chi-yang obtained the drugs and handed them to Yu Haeng-gan.
King Mokjong had a drink mixed with the drugs. Becoming confused, he mistook Yu Haeng-gan for Queen Yoseok and embraced him. “Where have you been? You know how much I’ve missed you? I’ve wanted to say sorry to you,” he said in tears. “I truly loved you.”
Yu Haeng-gan pretended to be Queen Yoseok and said, “I love you too. I have always loved you from the first moment I saw you. Come to me.”
Right then Empress Cheonchu (Chae Si-ra) came to the king’s bedroom. Yu Chung-jeong, the king’s secretary who was peeping into the room, became bewildered when informed that the empress was there.
Now all eyes are on what the fate of King Mokjong will be.
