Singer Son Dambi has taken top spot in a television music program for the first time since her debut.
Son’s song “On a Saturday Night,” released in late March, ranked first in KBS-TV’s Music Bank that was broadcast live Saturday. She made her debut in June 2007.
Son, who stunned the local pop world with her song “Crazy” in September last year, was quoted as saying by Money Today affiliate Star News, “I was unable to convey my feelings properly after becoming emotional because I hadn’t expected that honor.”
“Only a few weeks have passed since the song was introduced and it was only the second time that I have sung the song in Music Bank. I won’t forget this top place for good.
“I’d like to express my special thanks to members of my fan club who have cheered me up since my debut.”
Son expressed her resolve to continue training to return fans’ support for her. “I went to my training room right after dinner, Saturday. I’ll spend more time practicing dancing and singing.”
Once called the “female Rain,” she debuted with the single “Cry Eye.” After training in the United States after “Cry Eye,” Son returned to Korea and released a mini album, Son Dambi Mini Album Vol. 1 in April 2008. (Korea Times)
