Choo Sung-hoon, a 33-year-old fighter better known as Yoshihiro Akiyama, earned US$160,000 in his victorious debut match in the Ultimate Fighting Championship 100 in Las Vegas on Monday, it was reported on Wednesday. Choo defeated Alan Belcher in a split decision.


Choo as guest in Family Outing
According to the Nevada Athletic Commission, which manages and oversees the UFC, Choo earned $60,000 — basic fight money of $40,000 plus a victory bonus of $20,000. The additional $100,000 was awarded after his fight was voted match of the day.
With his $160,000 debut Choo became the fourth highest earner in the UFC 100. Former pro wrestler Brock Lesnar was the top earner with $400,000. Another Korean fighter, 27-year-old Kim Dong-hyun, also recorded a victory on Monday, earning a total of $58,000. (Chosun Ilbo)
